Ordinary E-mail
There are at least 4 serious weaknesses with ordinary e-mail that could pose a financial and legal risk to your organization:
| RISK | ORDINARY E-MAIL | PROTECTORIA |
| > Sending to the wrong recipient | E-mail address book features such as "Autocomplete" or simply typing in the wrong address unfortunately makes it very easy to send an e-mail to the wrong recipient. | To read protected messages a recipient needs a PIN code from Protectoria. The sender has to provide both the e-mail address and the mobile phone number to the recipient. Hence, if a sender uses the wrong address, the recipient will not be able to read the mail without the correct PIN. Furthermore, address fields such as first name, last name and company name are displayed before you send, so that you don't mistake one recipient for another. |
| > Man in the middle attacks | Each time an ordinary e-mail is sent, it is transmitted unprotected over the Internet before it finally reaches the chosen recipient. On its way, it passes through a number of servers and network components. People with authorized or unauthorized access to these components could read, alter or delete the content without it being noticed by the sender. | All e-mail traffic between the sender and the recipient is protected using strong encryption. |
| > Fraud | Most popular e-mail applications can easily be used to clone e-mail IDs. This practically allows for anyone to send out e-mails in your name. | Protectoria employs stringent registration procedures that require customers to identify themselves in several ways. Any changes to registration data underly the same stringent procedures. |
| > Unauthorized access to PCs and servers | Hackers use a number of methods to gain unauthorized access to PCs or servers where confidential e-mails and information may be stored. | All messages carried by Protectoria on behalf of its customers are scanned for possible threats and necessary measures are taken. However, customers are strongly encouraged to protect their PCs, servers, applications and facilities as this is beyond the control and scope of Protectoria. |
